☕ Coffee Quiz - 8th edition with Simply Signorina

Diane at the famous Grotta Palazzese in Polignano a Mare (photo courtesy of Diane Pisera)   Next up is Diane from Simply Signorina, an Italian focused blog about travel, cuisine and fashion.  She was born in Italy and moved to the U.S. when she was about 9 so she knows the best of both worlds!   I discovered her Instagram in my search for interesting Italian accounts and once I started following her, I found recipes and travel diaries to keep me coming back for more.  Her Christmas 2019 gift guide included the Italian game Tombola which I play in my Italian language class each December and I love it! Go...

Naples, Italy - The ONLY Place to Stay

Bed and breakfast Orsini 46 is the only place to stay in Napoli. We were there for 4 nights in November of 2019 and it was hard to leave! Why?  Here we go... 1.  Owners Gabriele and Manuela (along with their employee Hector) are amazingly helpful and welcoming.  They are also available via WhatsApp almost constantly.  When we were arriving into the Naples train station and wondered what a cab should cost to the B&B, I reached out and got all the info we needed to make sure we didn't get ripped off.  Once we got checked...

Naples, Italy - Where to Pizza

Sorbillo - Gino only, not any of the other ones you see around town with different first names.  There are 3 locations, we went to the one along the bay, not far from our hotel (Lungomare di Napoli). Starter - salad (with tuna filet, olives, and tomatoes) I had pesto, cherry tomatoes and smoked mozzarella Beppe had the margherita Salad was amazing and the pizza was a homerun.  Probably why they've opened locations outside of Italy (NYC with planned openings in Miami, Tokyo and Abu Dhabi). Beppe loved the sauce in particular...said it had a slightly smoky taste. Service was not great, atmosphere...

Rome, Italy - Where to Stay

So we stayed at the Residenza Cellini for the first time in November of 2013 and have been back 5 times since then.  It was recommended to us by my sister and her in-laws who had both stayed there after reading about it in Rick Steves Italy Guidebook. We loved (and continue to love) the Italian feel of the place, location, cleanliness but the best part every time is the staff. Excerpts from my TripAdvisor review after our first stay: We stayed in a junior suite that had a king sized bed and a twin bed, a small table with...

☕ Coffee Quiz - 7th edition with Italophilia

Ishita from Italophilia (courtesy of Ishita Sood) Our next subject for the Coffee Quiz is Ishita from Italophilia...the biggest and only Indian blog about Italy (how cool is that?).  We have been following her Instagram account for awhile and love that she seems as obsessed with the Bialetti tricolore as we are!   She writes about having an 'inexplicable' connection to Italy that started when she first visited in 2013 on a girls' trip.  Since then, she's been traveling there regularly and started blogging in 2014.  And speaking of her blog, it's got everything:  travel tips, Italian language tips, city specific info on Rome, Turin, Florence and Cinque Terre as well as articles about various regions like Tuscany and Le...
