If you have just arrived in Rome after a long trip, a Termini station coffee at the Lavazza bar is exactly what you need to start your vacation right.

Termini Station Coffee - Sugar Packs

After a long day (or night) of travelling, there is nothing better than a quick shot of espresso to give you that little extra boost to get home or to your hotel. I’ve had this opportunity a number of times after arriving in Termini Station and I highly recommend it.

There are actually a few options to consider when coming into Rome, but for me, the small Lavazza Grab&Go bar just through the security gates is like a familiar homecoming every time. Now that we live in Rome, the tradition has moved over to our son to enjoy when he comes to town.

Termini Station Coffee Bar Ambiance

If there was one word to describe the ambiance surrounding this Grab&Go coffee bar, it would be: Fast. Speedy ordering, service and consumption is what you will experience when you go for that refreshing espresso.

This is a “Pay First” type of coffee bar, which i s typical of Italy. You first approach the cashier (Cassa) and place your order for coffee and food. Then you pull up to the counter, which is on the two outer sides of the bar. Leave your receipt on the bar and wait to be served.

The barista will stop and check the receipt. He’ll mark it with a pen to indicate you are (or have been) served and you should receive your order shortly thereafter. Some other bars tear the receipt, instead of marking it, but the reason is the same.

There are no seats around this coffee bar and it is for a good reason. This isn’t a place to relax and wait for your train. It is definitely a dine-and-go experience.

Practical Information For Tourists

Peak hours at this bar mirror your typical rush hours for commuters and tourists alike. A typical arrival from the US could get you to Termini Station by 10:00AM, which is a perfect time to stop and enjoy a little pick-me-up.

The pricing is totally reasonable and consistent with other coffee bars in Rome. The only challenge that I’ve experienced is that given their size and popularity, it is possible for them to run out of pastries. I do believe they restock the food during the morning, but there can be gaps in the availability.

Where Is This Termini Station Coffee Shop?

This Grab&Go coffee shop is found on the ground floor of Termini Station about as close to the tracks as possible. It is on the via Giuseppe Giolitti end of the station close to the tracks that are reserved for the Leonardo Express.

As the Leonardo Express is a popular route from the airport to Rome, the location of this Grab&Go coffee shop couldn’t be better to nourish the weary traveler.
